Waterproofing: eVent Vs. Gore-Tex

Some say eVent fabrics breathe better than Gore-Tex. eVent’s marketing strategy is even based around that concept, saying that the fabrics “let the sweat out” two times as fast as its competitors.

However, Jason Klass begs to differ. The Denver native recently visited the Gore-Tex facilities where he witnessed a demonstration that showed a side-by-side comparison of the materials’ effectiveness. The group found that both Gore-Tex and eVent actually transfer water vapor at the exact same rate.

He asks on his blog: “Could it be merely psychological that people think eVent is more breathable?”

If so, then its proof eVent’s marketing strategy is working perfectly. Or maybe him questioning it is proof that Gore-Tex’s is? Either way, we’re happy as long as our toes stay warm and dry!
