HIKING BOOTS NEWS
Your Resource for Everything Hiking Boots
Hiking footwear that can generate electricity? One man says it’s more than just probable—it’s happening right now as you read this post.
Paul Gerstenberger, founder and inventor of Zapps Global Inc., stated that the hiking boots will include features such as a satellite-based locator system, high-intensity strobe light, sound beacons and an electronic fire-starter. Holy smokes, George Jetson may even be a tad jealous of this multi-purpose design.
Oh right, that cell phone? Totally rechargeable thanks to these sweet kicks. And you know how your feet get cold in the winter—not in these shoes. They have heaters built in to keep your toes frostbite free.
Gerstenberger has 28 patents regarding footwear and technology. “This was originally worked on in conjunction with DARPA (the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency), a super secret ‘James Bond’ agency,” he stated in the Star Advertiser.
Slated to start production with 90 days, Gerstenberger shared that he estimated the boots to be on the shelves of retail stores by March. The price will be around the same level as higher-end brands.
Do you think the boot would improve your hike?
