Men's Vasque Summit GTX

I wore these boots on several 5-8 mile day hikes with no pack (to get basic break in). I took them on a 12mile overnight hike (40 pound pack) on the AT and had a horrible experience. This was going to be part of the break in period, but you can not break in a boot you are unable to walk in. I gave the boots this high of a rating because they did protect me from a couple bad sprains, jagged rocks, and puddle/marsh sogginess; but sitting here now I have to nurse the front part of my foot (at ankle) because of the poor quality. You have to super tighten the top of the boot to prevent a too open ankle collar and range of movement... because of this (and foot shifting forward A LOT during descent) my feet became swollen. I woke up on the second day and put my shoes on; I had to take a break every 20 minutes because my feet hurt so much. And what the worst part is, this was supposed to be a 30 mile hike. Had to cut it short because of the pain. Do not recommend.

I was replacing an older pair of Vasque boots I'd worn for years and found that while a bit heavier, these new Vasques are just as comfortable, even the first time worn! I have a narrow heel and medium forefoot and these boots are perfect.

I wish my slippers were this comfortable! These are by far the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned. They are very heavy, at least compared to light weight rugged shoes. But, they are so comfortable the weight isn't an issue. I've only tried them a few times, but so far very rugged, very durable, and oh-so comfortable. I'm sold, when ever these wear out, I'll get another pair.

My first pair of vasque 1972. I had them for over 9 years and could have slept in them, they were soo comfortable. They were indestructible. I did a lot of climbing and hiking.

I got my first pair in 1989; the best. Vasque never failed. I kept wondering how many miles we had hiked in more than two years, through MN boundry Waters, WY, Montana, Yellow Stone, Hells canyon ID, CO, and two years as Scout leader, a lot of miles,ice, rocks, water, snow, with pac and with out, never failed. Just got a new pair and they're just as good.
