Men's Vasque Scree UD

I recently purchased this boot for some backpacking we were going to do, I gave it a few weeks prior to allow for some break in time, however really did not need any break it at all. They were super comfy right out of the box, they seem to hold up really well and offer good stability around the ankles on loose gravel and rocks where you foot tends to slip. The only draw back that I see so far is when wearing shorts sand and small bits of gravel would slip in and make it down into the boot which made me stop twice on the trail and empty little pebbles that may have gotten in. Not sure if any boot would have stopped that, and my last concern is after about 8 miles, I did begin to feel some hot spots, but I was not wearing sock liners so it may have had something to do with it. Hold up fantastic on shorter day hikes, overall it seems like a strong sturdy boot. As for for it being water proof, I have not had that opportunity yet, so can't say, but looks and feels as if it would hold up well. I gave these boots 4 stars, as it really is a comfy boot, I use them all the time on weekends etc for short hikes with the dog and I have had no problems with them.

Bought for 18-20 mile weekend in NH White Mountains. I am a casual backpacker - but felt like spiderman on the rocks, wet or dry. My feet stayed dry and warm despite one day never over 45 deg and raining. Absolutely no blisters or hot spots (wore for casual use before but felt like slippers practically from the start). Easy to cinch tighter for downhill, no smashed toes into front of boot. Laces are a bit long though - had to retie a couple of times after catching them with foot or brush. I normally wear a 13W street shoe (I push the length and D is tight, W a bit loose normally) and found the 14D to be perfect - kept my slightly narrow heel firmly in place.
