A very good hiking shoe. Lightweight, great traction and yes, they are waterproof. I have owned for four months and just finished four day backpacking trip where I hiked out four hours in a driving rain. Puddles and slick mud/clay where not an issue. The shoes stayed dry inside and the traction was great. I got to a motel for the night before my drive home and while wearing them, stuck them under the bathtub facet to clean off the mud. The water hammering the top did not get through. Durability is yet to be determined, but I am hoping they will hold up for a couple of seasons.

great traction and great durable vibram sole. Mesh allows your feet to breathe and stay cool while walking and hiking. Nice lateral support too. Shoes dry quickly allowing you to stay comfortable.

I recently used the Hedgehogs to run The Tough Mudder course at Mt Snow in VT. Mud, steep terrain, water, mud, snow and did I mention... MUD, put the Hedgehogs to the ultimate test. They passed with flying colors...!!! They provided the grip and durability I needed to get through some of the hardest most challenging terrain I have ever encountered. I donated the ultra muddy Hedgehogs at the end of the course, but went and picked up another pair as soon as I got home. Great shoes, no complaints. Thanks TNF

I hike 2-3 times a week out here in the Pacific northwest, I got these after taking my dog with me to work and she ate my shoes....so I bought these in a rush. But I made sure they had Vibram soles. I'm particular to the trail runners I buy. Anyhow, these preformed great! One of the best I've ever worn. We hit compact snow, and I had no issues. Wet rocks, no problem, predictable traction. Running downhill, wonderful fit. Plenty of cooling. So far put 30 miles on these babys and am ordering (6) more. When I find a shoe I like I buy in bulk lest they change.

I have owned seven pairs of Hedgehogs. This is a first-rate shoe, comfortable, rugged, and not hard on the eyes either. I usually walk 4-6 miles every day and these shoes are just great for that kind of hiking. I also wear them while skydiving. Price is very fair. Great company !

They run 1/2 size small, so go 1 size up. They're a very well supported cross trainer shoe, it took me ~40 miles before they broke in good. They have boot-like traction and weigh nothing. I just spent a couple days on trail in the rain and my feet were dry. Will buy another set when these wear out.

I just purchased my 2nd pair of the North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR shoes. I must say that I am amazed at the quality of these shoes. My first pair was purchased in 2008 just before leaving home for a 16-month, around the world trip with my wife. She also wore a pair of these shoes. We wore them during many different activities on our trip: Sky-diving in Fiji, woodland hikes on 6 continents, island (rocky) hikes in Fiji, glacier trekking in New Zealand, jungle hikes in Thailand, a hike in the Himalayas, hiking up sand dunes in the Namib Desert, Sahara Desert hiking, brick street walks all over Europe, hiking around Macchu Pichu, rock-climbing in Laos, bicycle riding all over the world, etc. The shoes held up throughout the entire trip and are still usable (though they are a bit heavier because of all the accumulated dirt and sand). These shoes are GREAT! Love them.
