Men's Salomon Speedcross 3

This has been the shoe of choice for my 18 year old son when he competes in trail races. Despite his young age, he is a very competitive distance runner (with overall wins in marathons, halfs, and trail races) so he's very particular about the shoe he wears for each type of race or training run. He wears a more stable shoe for his daily runs since the Salomon would have trouble keeping up with the 100+ mile/week training schedule. The snug sock-like fit and the quicklace system are a major plus. He finds the shoe to be a big advantage in ultra trail runs where the terrain is extremely steep and often muddy. These shoes have helped him to avoid the falls that are often a problem in those type of races.

Everything is great! Very comfortable and fit well! Very good cushion w/o sacrificing traction. Get lots of compliments about them also (I have the neon green & red pair)!

These shoes tore up the tough mudder course! In super muddy areas where people where slipping and sliding (muddy mile) this shoe had enough grip to where I could get through without any problems. The shoe was comfortable all day and drained water fairly well. Some of the other guys in my group had different trail shoes from different manufacturers and they had a build up of mud in their shoes. These bad boys never had to be re-tightened and they kept all the rocks out with ease. Best part, I took them to a local car wash, sprayed them out and they look good as new. If you're doing any off road running or Tough Mudders, this shoe is awesome. People kept asking me after I would traverse a slippery muddy area what shoes I had on and every time I would tell them about the speedcross, they would comment about going out to buy a pair for themselves. There's only one small caveat, DO NOT RUN WITH THESE ON THE ROAD! Road running will severely wear down the tread and take away some of your advantage. These are meant for the rocks and dirt and they're very very good at it. I ran maybe 5 miles on the road and I could already see where they were starting to wear. So, be mindful of your running surface.

I had the Speedcross 2 model and these Speedcross 3's are just as great. First as a regular at all types of mud runs, these shoes have become essential gear along with my business suits that have made me famous as Mr. Muddy Suitman, so a shoe has to stay light when wet and muddy as well as grip the slippery trail. These shoes are so great at everything I just stated that I can't praise them enough to do them justice. So in summary, these shoes are lightweight even when wet & muddy, are stable as well as strongly grip the trail even when it's very slippery, and when you're done with the run, cleaning them is very easy. I love my Salomon Speedcross 3 shoes and definately recommend these shoes for runs like Tough Mudder, Spartan Races, and any other mud run/obstacle race!!

Great shoes, love the traction, especially the heel for downhill. light weight and somewhat waterproof. A little narrow but I have a wide foot and don't believe Salomon has a wide (E) shoe. The only compalint is the stiching on the tongue came loose on the second or third run and the tongue started to pull out.
