Great hiking shoe & light work shoe
Customer Rating
I practically have nothing but Merrell shoes in my closet & this is one of the best pairs I've owned. I worked AAA roadside service I & wear these 5 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. Excellent wear, very good in weather, very light but still secure, comfortable as can be, & def. worth the money. Going to buy a few m ore pairs as soon as I've worn through these. Great shoe...period...
Happy feet!

My first pair were the chameleon 3's. I really found those to be very comfortable and a great casual walking, go anywhere shoe! I wore holes in both heels after walking about 600 miles on paved trails in about 6 months. They were such a great shoe that I thought I would replace them with the Chameleon 4's. So far so good! They are holding up well. Wish the 4's had the pull up tab on the tongue like the 3's. The stretch slip on design and glove like fit will keep me buying these for years to come.
Merrell's being CHEAP
Customer Rating
I used to like Merrell a lot-high quality products, I've got a total of three pairs. You pay more up front but you get more at the long run. Until lately-it looks like Merrell is turning into one of the many companies that would rather make a few more dollars of profit than secure a loyal returning customer. I think people are gonna turn to other brands on the market that are just as compatitive with their prices and quality. I least I am. I still have a pair of the Chameleon three-very well built inside and outside. I just bought the Chameleon 4 and to my surprise these are not really made to last.
Best hiking shoes I've bought so far
Customer Rating
I watched a few episodes of Man vs. Wild and was really interested in what type of shoes Bear Grylls wear during his treks. After a few minutes of searching, I found out he wears these. While it may not specifically be these Chameleon4 Stretch, Bear does wear Merrell's though he never mentions it on his shows. Now the question was, is this shoe worth it or was it just a silent endorsement by a TV personnel?
After getting my shoes last week (I ordered the Boulder color), I decided to test it out on a few hikes. I took it to the local trails around my place, jogging in the park, and a few other places. The first thing I noticed when I first put them on is how comfortable they are. The cushion is very comfortable and I like how the laces can easily be loosed / tightened in a few seconds. You won't ever need to tie them. It's a plus for when you're out hiking on rough terrain.
Now for the performance. I took it to Joshua Tree National Park yesterday and did a few trails and climbed a few rocks for hours. I must say these shoes were EXCELLENT in its performance. It was extremely grippy and I am quite happy with how well the shoes held up after hours of activities. They never slipped once on those rocks and they kept my feet well protected throughout.
Will I buy Merrell again? Probably, but these shoes are pretty durable and should last me for quite some time. After I take them out to pasture (in hopefully a few years time, hah), I plan on buying another like it. I highly recommend these for those who wants a great pair of hiking / trekking shoes.
Merrell Chameleon 4
Customer Rating
I love this pair of Merrell which is lightweight and best of all comfortable. You can walk in them all day long and your feet does not feel sore or tired at all. I would recommend this as a good pair of walking shoes!
Men's Merrell Chameleon4 Stretch
Customer Rating
Shoe is very comftorable and fits size correctly. However the tongue does seem to slip down and need pulling foward after putting on shoe. If the shoe is at all tight you will need to loosen laces to get fingers under. All in all, a very well fitting shoe.but the tongue issue distracts from its perfect rating........
Most Comfortable Hiking Shoes EVER!
Customer Rating
Without a doubt, these are the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever owned. From the moment I slipped them on, they were as comfortable as loafers. My concern was that they wouldn't give enough support, but the next day I walked 8 miles on some pretty steep hills and rocky trails, and they were fantastic. They didn't rub, and the soles and tread were just right.
These are half the weight of the Chameleon3 Gore-Tex Merrells which I'm still using for more difficult national park trails, in part because the Gore-Tex is waterproof. (But since these are shoe height, step in a stream more than 5" deep, and forget about the waterproofing.) Still, it was amazing that anything this light could provide such comfort and support. The sizing was perfect, something that I've only been able to say once before (and I have 4 pair of Merrells and 2 of Eccos). I'm certain that there will be another pair of these in my future.
One recommendation (not a complaint): There could be loops on the tongues because the tongue tends to roll under when you first put the shoes on. However, before you tighten the laces, there's room enough to slip a finger under and smooth the tongue out. Takes another second or two.
